Austen’s 50 Hill’s Challenge

It’s great to see that a few of you are already out “bagging” Austen’s Top 50 Climbs. Thanks to Roger who has produced the attached improved spreadsheet and tick sheet.

Repair Cafe

Thanks to Amanda for making us aware of an upcoming Repair Cafe at Hurst Green Community Centre. They will be doing basic bike maintenance which some may find useful.

Ride Reports

Huge Thanks to Norman who is doing a great job in organising our midweek rides:

Tuesday 17th Feb, four of us rode to Perryhill cafe this morning after a 10 am start to avoid any frost. The temperature did not move above about 5 /6 degrees but bright sunshine followed us via Lingfield, Furness Lane and Holtyre. I had to demolish the largest break budding ever seen which had no effect on me for the way back and lead by Chris via a lane at Hartfield and around to Holtyre Golf Course. Continued on to Mark Beech, Hever and Edenbridge. Thanks to Hot up the Hills Janette, Mark and Chris.

Norman

Wednesday 25th Feb, nine of us ( Paul, Linda, Gilly, Janette, Casey, Jo, Chris, Andy and myself) set out in cool foggy weather to Penshurst via Lingfield and Mark Beech. We sat outside in the warming sunshine at the Porcupine Cafe and met up with the other midweek Club riders.  The return casual ride brought us back via Leigh and Chiddingstone Causeway and the temperature had risen to 16 degrees plus and some of us overheated a little in the warmth of the clear sunshine. Great time and hope for more of the Spring like sunshine.
